Announcements from the Guidance Office

 

The UNIVERSITY OF CALGARY will be visiting DHS on Wednesday, September 18th.  Please sign up in the guidance office if you are interested in attending.

ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 23RD THE ONTARIO COLLEGE INFORMATION PROGRAM TOUR WILL BE AT DRYDEN HIGH SCHOOL FROM 1:00- 2:30.  Please visit the Small Gym at DHS to learn about programs in 17 Ontario colleges.

Scholarship opportunity.  The Horatio Alger Canadian Scholarship Program is now accepting applications, until October 25th, you could be awarded up to $10.000 for post-secondary studies.  You must be graduating from High School with plans to attend a university education in the fall.  To learn more of the eligibility requirements and to apply please visit www.horatioalger.ca/en/scholarships

Rotary Club Adventures in Agriculture  November 27th – Dec 1st in Regina.  Applications are available in the DHS Guidance office and the library.  Deadline to apply is September 24th. 

Dryden Rotary Club is hosting an information meeting for students, and their families,  interested in Long and Short term exchanges to another country, on Tuesday, September 17th.  This session is being held in the DHS Library at lunch time.  There will also be a session at 7:00 p.m., at DHS, on Monday September 23rd.   Information will also be available for those who may be interested in hosting an international student, from another country, in your home. 

Otawn – Métis Fall Camp will run October 24-27th.  Application Deadline is October 4th.  The Métis Nation of Ontario Fall Cap is a great opportunity for Métis youth (Grades 10-12) to participate in cultural activities in a fall setting.  The camp will celebrate Métis history as well as traditional and contemporary Métis way of life and culture.  Eligibility Criteria:  – Be Métis; – Enrolled and attending high school in Ontario; – in grade 10, 11, or 12; – Provide a letter of support from a parent/guardian or Métis community council member.  For more information visit  and application please click here.

Potential Graduates need to have all their hours completed and turned in to the Guidance office by May 31st.
